For exhibition in Czech centre Berlin 2016
The fragment of the shopping mall window is part of the architectural exhibition Kotvy Maje in the Czech centre in Berlin. The object is inspired by a situation from my home city where a modern annex was added to an old socialist store, Prior. Is the old building still fully functional as it was originally designed or is it now just a dead shell occupied by a retail chain? As the spectators of the exhibition walk through the gallery, they turn on a motion sensor which in turn switches on a ventilator which causes the curtain to move, thus creating the impression that there is still life behind the curtain. This system of fans was situated in the entrance of the old shopping centre to prevent heat loss which is a vivid childhood memory which has stuck with me to this day.
